Home Sweet Home

After thinking about what I can blog about this week I decided to get out and in my town and work on my camera skills and also a chance to catch up properly with my friend Sian.

I live in Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, soon to be Royal Wootton Bassett. WB is a market town with a population of approximately 11,000. It is a great little town and also beautiful. I had forgotten how pretty the town is, especially with all the flowers in bloom at this time of year.

I set off from my house:

The met Sian and we walked up the high street.

It used to be the case that no one had heard of Wootton Bassett and sometimes I would have to describe where I lived at being close to Bath or Stonehenge or even just as west of London. That is no longer the case as many people have seen the town on the news for not so happy moments. But I think people forget we are still a normal town the rest of the time.

I got Sian to come out with me this weekend so I could wander and take photos for my blog. We walked to the Town Hall:

The Memorial:

Past the Church (there are more but this is the main/oldest one):

We walked around almost the whole town, but we got talking and talking and then I forgot to take photos, but the majority of the town is modern houses, which aren’t as photogenic.

We then decided to call it a day (plus go to the cinema later) so I headed home and loved that my house is hidden behind the bright green hedge and the dark red tree!

I hadn’t stopped to appreciate my town in a long time. In my aim to be more local I plan to go up the high-street when the shops are open to see what is available so close to home.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and ready for the new week to begin!
