It is that time of the month again. I want to talk about another blog I love.
I love how Jennette writes. She is funny and insightful. Sometime I think she can read my mind. Posts often pop up out of no where and click with me. Like todays post, which I will talk about shortly.
Jennette started off writing about her weight loss journey. I think this is why I first started reading her blog as I was just starting that journey for myself in 2007. One page on Pasta Queen blog called Weight Loss No Flash sets out her journey in only photos. Jennette lost an amazing 192lbs over 3 years. This is still an inspiration to me!
I have yet to read her books but Jennette has published 2 books:
I have had them both on my wish list for a long time but have not been able to read them yet. I will change this.
Jennette has written some great posts about a variety of topics. I thought about going through and finding some of my favourite but I have decided to focus on the one posted yesterday call What You Do Today Is What You Do With Your Life.
I read this post this morning and loved it. I found it true and something that I can relate to right now. This quote struck me especially:
‘Most of the big things I’ve accomplished in life didn’t come in a sudden deus ex machina moment. They came by adopting behaviors I executed every day.’
I often live in the future and expect things to happen just because I want them to. This is not the case unless I work for it. I have to do something everyday in order to achieve my goals. They are not just going to happen. Putting things off until tomorrow is easy, but it will not help me do what I want to do.
Jennette uses the example of reading, which also happens to be something I want to do more of:
‘When I look at my average day, I can see what I’m doing with my life. If I want to be a person who reads more, I have to do a bit of reading every day. When I put it that way, it seems obvious. Duh, if you want to read more you actually have to read. Instead, I usually think, “I should read more. I’ll do that tomorrow or next week or something.” If I want to add more reading to my life, I have to add it to my day.’
It is obvious, but it is also hard. We all say we don’t have time or money or something else that gives us an excuse to put things off. However if we want to achieve something we have to work for it. Doing a little everyday is better than doing nothing. It breaks it down in to manageable chunks (wow that sounds familiar – weight loss anyone?).
I want to lose weight. I want to be healthy and active. Therefore I need to eat healthy foods and be active everyday. I also have another goal I haven’t even started working on yet as I keep telling myself there will be time later. What if there isn’t? I know I shouldn’t think like that, but I need to start doing something now so I know I tried.
After all it is all about the journey 🙂

This was the first blog I ever read. I can’t remember exactly when I started to read it but it must have been when I first decided to lose weight back in 2007 or maybe when the book was released in 2008. Although it really feels longer than that, but I doubt it as before that I didn’t care about healthy living.
Why Do I like this Blog?
Shauna is funny, honest, witty, intelligent and I relate to a lot of it. I won’t say all of the things Shauna writes about I relate to as that would be a lie, but there are a lot of things I would like to thank her for writing about.
Looking back to where I must have started to read the blog at some point during 2007 or 2008 and have had a trip down memory land. I love that Shauna writes and uses photos to illustrate rather than tell the story. I love reading and being able to let your imagination run wild is all part of the fun.

Looking at the very beginning of the blog is amazing. I can only hope to still be writing a blog 10 years down the line. I would recommend reading the book to get Shauna’s whole story.
Through this blog I have been introduced to a the world of blogging and have found some amazing blogs I follow regularly and blogs I trust to point me in the right direction for one off posts on specific topics.
The main follow on from this blog is the Two Fit Chicks and a Microphone podcasts. I would definitely recommend checking these out. I laugh right along with Shauna and Carla (aka MizFitOnline) as though I am there. Again this has been a great way of being introduced to the wider world of blogging.
